OK, I realize this looks like a LOT of rules, but it's really not so bad. The only reason it's so long is I wanted to make sure everything was completely clear. I know no one likes rules, but we gotta have them, and I need everyone to stick to these so HR can be fun and organized.
General Rules
• Be nice, duh! Your characters can be mean to each other in posts, but for goodness sakes, be nice to each other in real life.
• Keep swearing to a minimum. A little is OK, and I won't be super strict, but don't go overboard on it.
• BE APPROPRIATE! I don't think I have to say this, but I just want to make that clear. Bob and Mary may not have sex in the school grounds, (or anywhere else). We want this board to be appropriate for pretty much all ages.
• Try to be descriptive as possible in your posts, and use correct grammer, spelling, etc. Some spelling errors are OK, as none of us are perfect.
• The CBox is not for RPing, but the main rules do apply to it.
• When you join, you should talk to me.
Characters
• Members have three choices to get a character. They are:
-- "Adopt" one of the canon characters.
-- Make your own original character.
-- Request a canon character that's not on the list to be added.
• When you first make your character, you must post their bio in the general section of the characters board. When they are approved, they will be moved to the appropriate board. The password to the character boards is snuffles.
• Though members are welcome to have more than one character, please PM me before making a second (third, fourth, etc...) character. I will almost always allow you, UNLESS you are inactive and don't meet requirements. If you already have more that one character, and are failing to keep them active you will have to abandon one on the abandon characters board. (This does not yet exist, but when the need arises for it, I will create it.) There someone else can "adopt" it. If you don't want someone else to RP your character, you can have the character die somehow.
• You must get my permission to have certain powers/traits. These are things like metamorphmagi, werewolves, veela, vampire, animagus, etc.
• If you make an original character, you will be Sorted by the Sorting Hat. You do have some say in what house you'd like, but you don't have complete control. Remember your profile has to be realistic, so don't purposefully design it so you can only be in one house.
Roleplaying
• You can do about anything you like, as long as it's realistic for the HP world. You can get in fights, be evil, etc. However, your actions MUST be realistic! This especially important if you're playing a canon character. RP the character the way they appear in the books!
• You're not allowed to do things to other people's characters unless they say you can! This is called god-modding and is extremely bad behiavior. Here is an example of god-modding:
"Tom punched Bob as hard as he could, hitting him in the head. Bob fell backwards and was knocked unconcious as he hit the stone floor."
This is god-modding because you said what happened to Bob without letting him have a say.
• Similar to god-modding, no "Mary-Sues" or "Gary-Stus". This means, no perfect characters. Everyone has flaws. This includes magical capabilities, not everyone can produce a corporeal patronus, and only a few, very strong wizards can become animagi. Also, your characters isn't invinceable, they don't block every hex that gets sent and them, and on the other end of the spectrum, don't have your character constantly getting hurt or sick. It gets very annoying to RP with characters like this.
• RPing is to be done in third-person point-of-view and in past tense. If you fail to follow this rule, you will have a warning. Also, you must use proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
Most Importantly:
HAVE FUN! Not having fun is considered a serious offence, and you will be severely punished!
